All this time in quarantine had me thinking, “When was the last time I took photos just for the fun of it?” As a commercial photographer, I was spending most of my time in the studio creating content for my clients - sticking to their brand guidelines and project briefs. If there’s anything good that came out of this quarantine, it’s the fact that it forced me to prioritize myself, to lean into the discomfort of deep self-reflection, and to finally say, “Just have fun and see what happens.” So that’s exactly what I’m doing. Lately I’ve just been shooting. I’ve not been worrying too much about what it will look like, how much time it’ll take, having to throw it all away and start all over again. All I’ve been doing is doing - creating, enjoying, and yes, playing! It’s taken me well into my thirties, one pandemic, and a surplus of bananas (because I’m sick of baking banana bread, y’all!) to start playing with my food. Watch this space…there’s more to come!
